Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme has been launched by the Government of Karnataka in order to provide health insurance to the state Government employees and their dependents. It is basically a comprehensive healthcare scheme where beneficiaries can avail of cashless treatment through empanelled hospitals. This scheme can be used only for tertiary and emergency care objectives for catastrophic illnesses which require hospitalization, surgeries and other therapy. Beneficiaries can avail of treatment from empanelled super speciality Hospitals.

This scheme covers the tertiary and emergency treatment of 7 specialities which include cardiology, oncology, genitourinary surgery, neurology, burns, polytrauma cases and neonatal and paediatric surgery. In order to take benefit from this scheme, the beneficiaries are not required to do any kind of registration. They just have to update their and their dependent details in the HRMS database of e-governance under DPAR.

Identification Of Beneficiaries Under Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme

Identification of beneficiaries under the Jyoti Sanjeevini Scheme will be done through the government insurance department policy number which will be interacted with the HRMS database of the Department of Personnel and administrative reforms. For the purpose of identification, the government have given permission to Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust to access the database of all the Government employees and the dependents of the beneficiaries which include the wife or husband of a government employee, father or mother (which includes stepmother if they ordinary resides with a government employee and their total monthly income does not exceed Rs 6000), children which includes stepchildren and adopted children if they are dependent on the beneficiary. If the government employee is taking the benefit of any other similar Government sponsored scheme then he or she cannot take benefit of this scheme.

Implementation Of Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme

Jyothi Sanjeevini scheme will be implemented in assurance mode through Suvarna Arogya Suraksha trust. All the State Government employees and their dependents will benefit from this scheme. The government is going to empanel hospitals throughout the state. Through these empanelled hospitals beneficiaries can avail the benefit of cashless treatment. Those hospitals that are empanelled under Vajpayee arogyashree scheme are also empanelled under the Jyothi Sanjeevini scheme. Beneficiaries can avail the cashless treatment under this scheme except in the following cases:-

When beneficiary opts for the stents, implants etc which are costlier than the ones that are included in the benefit package
When the beneficiary opts for a superior ward than the one included in the benefit package
In both cases, the beneficiary has to bear the additional costs incurred.

The main objective of Jyothi sanjeevini scheme is to provide Health insurance to the State Government employees of Karnataka. Through this scheme, beneficiaries will be able to get cashless treatment in the empanelled hospital. This will help them in getting protection against high medical expenditures. Eligibility Criteria Of Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme

Applicant must be a permanent resident of Karnataka
The applicant must be a serving state government employee
Pensioners have excluded from this scheme
Those persons who are working in aided an autonomous institution without a KGID number linked to the HRMS database are not eligible to apply under this scheme
The police department also cannot apply under this scheme as there is a separate Health insurance Scheme for police employees known as the police Arogya Bhagya scheme
