On September 15, CM MK Stalin launched a Rs1,000 monthly cash aid program for women in honor of Dravidian leader C N Annadurai. Stalin announced the plan, claiming it was a reward for the hard labor of women, and issued bank debit cards to a number of the recipients. State ministers then implemented the program in their respective districts. It is an expression of pride that the program is being introduced on Anna’s birthday and during Karunanidhi’s centennial (2023–2024).
